new K2 skates
After many weeks of looking for a pair of blades to replace my annoying Rollerblade Core Carbons (basically, a bad fit and the non-adjustable frame position was too far outboard), I finally decided to try the K2 Mod 8.5 skate. They were impossible to find in local stores, but Inline Warehouse had them in stock at a great price and free shipping, so I surprised myself and bought them online, figuring if they didn't fit I was only out a few bucks for the return shipping. This turned out really well, they arrived in a couple days and fit perfectly. The guys at Inline were really helpful when I called with a question, too; I highly recommend them.
And the skates? I'm in love. They are super adjustable, super comfortable, and they run like greased lightning. I'm no speed skater, but these wheels are very noticeably faster than my old dogs. I need to build up some ankle strength to compensate for the lower cuff, but hey, more strength is a good thing. After about 40 miles to date, I am watching the design quality of a few things, so I can't yet recommend the K2's unequivocally. But my early impression is that they are impressive road skates.
