first run on new skates
Did an inaugural run across Stanford on my new K2 Radical 90 skates, the usual 11 mile loop to the top of the Matterhorn and back. GPS shut off about halfway out, so no stats or logs today. The skates felt good, although very different than my Mod 7.5's. They are very firm, both in the boot platform and the wheel hardness, and I could feel every little ripple and bump in the road. The large 90mm wheels made the overall ride smoother though. The long wheelbase made it harder to do quick cuts and turns, but made the glides much more stable. The biggest difference for me though, is the low boot cuff. I'm used to having some pretty solid boot support, and my ankles really noticed the difference. It was flippy floppy all the way home, very tired. Guess I have some work to do.
